Today was, overall, an OK sort of day.

Nightmares: Yes. I’ll try not to remember it, because they tend to be traumatic, sometimes overtly (very overtly), sometimes subtly (but not that subtle).

Work: Didn’t get there because the car died. Did work from home, but spent most of the day going through emails, which was a little depressing. I wish I felt more confident about being wanted at work after having gone through a rough year.

The car’s back, by the by.

Books: I’m currently reading The Lust Lizard of Melancholy Cove, and while the prologue is a bit humdrum, the first chapter starts off with one of the strangest and strongest sentences I’ve ever read:

As dead people went, Bess Leander smelled pretty good: lavender, sage, and a hint of clove.

Hopefully I’ll get to read even more… tomorrow. Tonight must be sleeps.

Link of the Day: Epic Soul Factory does trailer-style music: everything from crime capers to sweeping epics to wistful fantasies. Chants, yes, feature in half of the songs from their first album. Every good trailer seems to involve a chant of some type.

Cow of the Day: Valencia, for staying with me while we walked to and from the auto shop multiple times.

Blather: I’m still deciding on whether I’ll do NaNoWriMo; if I do, it’ll be exclusively 7500-word stints on each weekend day; no relaxing for me, because work is that demanding the closer we come towards the holidays. Thansk to LA BÚSQUEDA DE IANNA, I know better what things must be like for the High School of the Gods. They are certainly not taking a train there. If I do participate, this year I’ll be working without an outline, and probably doing scenes out of sequence. Scary, and means I’ll rely even more heavily on Scrivener than ever before.

I’m actually writing a short story because I’m really chomping at the bit to fill out this world… there aren’t traditional gods, but echoes of them, because this takes place in a future world that never was. I feel sad that I’ll probably only have time to do one main character, and I plan on having three.

IF I was doing NaNoWriMo.

(And here; I just wrote 581 words for it, for a total of 1323 words. Sigh.)
