There’s not much I can say here that I haven’t already said for Best Professional Artist. Except that fan artists seem a lot looser, and a more willing to gently (or less gently) prod and make fun of some of the nerdgassinness of the sci-fi genre. (Or should I say SF, to award proper respect?)
At the same time, fan artists also provide the same services that professional artists do: illustrate the strangeness of science fiction and fantasy.

- Note
- I was going to include some cool Taral Wayne art, such as the shadow of two dragons flying over a cliff at night, a moody sketch of a skeletal figure in a graveyard at night… but the website where these images were hosted blew up. I knew I should have saved the pictures earlier….
So here is an article from Taral Wayne in Challenger Zine #22.
And some other, older art of his.
