I was able to put in 2,639 words today, almost reaching my goal of 3000 words. I didn’t reach it because I ended up getting absorbed in researching seals and reading Hudson’s FTM Resource Guide. I’m going to be picking up Fluss’s Dressing the Man as research… for after draft zero.
I’ve decided to let draft zero lie fallow after I finish it. And I’ve got to finish. Even if I don’t make the NaNoWriMo deadline (and I’m likely to not finish the story anyways even after hitting 50k).
I was talking to a friend of mine this morning and half-joked about procrastinating from writing. He said, basically, if I was procrastinating from writing, maybe that was a sign that writing wasn’t my thing. I thought about this, and decided, he’s probably write. And the next time I think of procrastinating I’ll go ahead and write instead, or else I’m not really a writer, I’m a poseur.
Be going to bed soon. Hope for 3k tomorrow to catch up; it seems to be what I realistically achieve. Part of my problem, if it can be called such, is that I’ve developed a routine where I write 2k at night after the shower. It’s turning out to be difficult for me to write at any other time. O.o
A routine where you write 2,000 words most evenings after your shower sounds highly functional. It’s only a problem in the context of NaNoWriMo, where there’s a quota imposed for one month.
Yup. 2k a night is a pretty good clip, though it depends on me either knowing what I’m going to write, knowing what I’m going to fix, or feeling the braveness to explore the unknown.
