Three good things!
1. Finished Puella Magi Madoka Magica. Brilliant story-telling, packed into a mere 12 anime episodes. I highly recommend it; it’s available on a legit site, Crunchy Roll. Strong recommend, and also strong recommendation that you read no spoilers before watching it.
2. A simple two-player game (variant: Villain, Hero 1, Hero 2, Hero 1, Hero 2, Environment rounds; +10 HP per hero) of Sentinels of the Multiverse went down well (Baron von Blade, Realm of Discord). The Realm of Discord was surprisingly… nice… although this may have been pure luck.
3. Learning more (in a haphazard manner) about modern tools like HTML 5, CSS 3, Git, Rails 3.2, Ruby 1.9.3, CoffeeScript, Sass, etc. I’m going to need to lay out some kind of lesson plan, like learning to create mock-ups and turning those into assets and suchlike.
I’m letting Seal Tales rest mostly idle for now, but I still poke at it from time to time in my head, trying to see if anything new has come up. I think I may need to figure out what my story means—I mean, the best stories have meaning beyond what’s happening on the page, at least that’s what I think.
I dunno. I may need to just write it, then throw away the draft (which would be draft #8) and do it again, and repeat, until I have formed something I like. Or perhaps what I’m mostly doing now is discovery writing, writing that doesn’t belong in the story at all; the story may start later than it really does.
